If you’ve heard about Wagyu beef, you may be anxious to try it! The tricky part is finding it. True Wagyu comes only from Wagyu cattle, who are raised in a very specific way, to create the beautifully marbled, melt-in-your-mouth steak that’s so delicious. These cattle are rare, found only on a handful of farms in the United States. You can order meat online, but the idea of shipping perishable food may make you nervous. There’s no need to worry! Triple T Ranch knows exactly how to send meet in the mail while maintaining its quality, and we’ll explain the process here.
Of course, the primary concern when shipping any perishable item is bacterial contamination. To avoid this when shipping meat, the temperature of the meat must be controlled during transit. When meat is delivered to grocery stores, it’s transported on temperature controlled trucks so that it arrives at a safe temperature. When it’s being delivered to your door, however, the process is a little bit different.
Triple T Ranch ships Wagyu beef quick-frozen to a temperature below negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Before freezing, a special film us used to inhibit bacteria growth, and then all of our meat shipping is done in temperature-controlled meat shipping boxes and containers. Even though we take every precaution to ensure that your meat arrives frozen, some thawing may occur during transit. This is not an issue, as long as the beef arrives to you at a temperature below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Some of our cuts are sent by overnight shipping, though if you order a whole steer, it may take four to five days to get to you. This is not the time it spends in transit, though. Total transit time is only about three to four days, but it takes two to three days to prepare such a large order and dispatch it. Of course, once you receive your whole steer, you’ll probably be able to feed your whole family for a year!
If you order a smaller package, it will arrive more quickly. Our cuts of meat are typically sent via overnight shipping, two to three business days after you order. Even though the shipping says overnight, it could take one to two business days to be delivered. Have patience- Wagyu beef is well worth the wait.
Once you’ve taken the plunge and ordered Wagyu to be delivered to your house, it’s important to preserve its integrity by storing it correctly. It’s recommended that you keep it frozen until three days before you’re ready to use it. Wagyu beef can stay good in the freezer for up to six months but should then be thawed slowly in the refrigerator, which can take one to three days.
